From Structural to Software Engineer
I'm Joachim, and with a sparkling interest in structural engineering, FE, and software engineering, I built Orange FEA.
- Graduated M.Sc. in structural engineering from DTU in 2016.
- Studied finite element method from 2012 and software engineering from 2016.
- Still working as a structural engineering consultant in Rambøll.
Optimized for Speed
The tech stack was selected for speed, robustness and longevity.
- Landing page with Astro, FEA frontend with React+Typescript and Three/Drei.
- FE calculation engine with faer as matrix assembler and sparse matrix solver.
- Calculations paralallized in rust with redis.
- Servers run with Hetzner.com (based in germany).

Orange FEA is made for everyone needing an affordable generel FE application. It is suited to structural engineers and people that wish to create their FE models with python.

What dose the future bring?
Creation of Orange FEA is based on curiousity and interest in structural engineering, FE and software engineering. The goal is to create a great european based FE application, to enhance productivity of structural engineers, while mitigating the risk of errors. We are working on improving the product both in UI experience, calculation engine speed and robustness, and FE features, such as elements and material types.
